Ridge Vineyards York Creek Zinfandel (High Mid Shoulder) - 1979 (750ml)

The differing soils and exposures of the several Zinfandel blocks at York Creek and the Petite Sirah in the one mixed block seem to be major contributors to the unusual complexity of these wines. In addition, the mountain location protects the vineyard from the extremes of heat in the valley below and assures greater quality. This beautifully balanced wine combines an earthy character with the varietal spice and the oak of small cooperage aging.
